John Deere 110 – 50 years old this year! I have 2 of these tractors that I will restore someday.

Korg Headtune Guitar tuners – Korg sent me a HT-G2 model to test out. Problem is, I don’t play guitar. I did, however, test it on my banjo and since banjo uses only B,G and D, and it’s included on the HT-G2, it worked great. But it does look funny on a Banjo looking like a guitar.

Google Keep – It’s going to replace (mostly) evernote for me. It’s simple, easy to deal with and works on my phone and tablet.

Apple’s new “podcasting” app for IOS – So far it looks good. I’m going to try it for a while. I can say right now that I’m not happy that it doesn’t have playlists (but I’m guessing it either does or will and I’m just missing something)


Google I/O –

Drive and Chrome for IOS – I’ve downloaded them for the iPad and haven’t really used them TOO much. Seems that Tim Cook is less intense about killing off Google then Steve Jobs was.

Nexus 7 – The $199 price point for the 8gig and $249 for the 16gig is really good. Could be a kindle fire killer. I want one! Anyone want to buy a lightly used Kindle Fire with a leather case?

Q – WTF? $299 for something that doesn’t do as much as the Apple TV? I guess it’s the only way to get your android content onto your TV without hooking up a cable to your device. What about Google TV? Wouldn’t that make more sense? I don’t know.

Facebook rant – Facebook is turning into the spam of the 90’s kind of like AOL 2.0. I’m done checking it all the time. I will keep my account open and it will keep updating the automatic content though Twitter and other things like foursquare, instagram and such, but I will do my active posting and interaction over on Google Plus. If you haven’t given it a try, drop over there and try it.

Today I killed off the remaining 2 podcast shows I had out there (Mike Dell’s World and Retrotech). I’m folding those into this show (Geek of the North). Since I AM “THE Geeek of the North”, I figured I would consolidate all of my online broadcasting and business onto one website. As I explain in the episode, It will make it easier for me to keep up with and create great content instead of half-assed efforts on many channels.

The plan is to do at least 1 long form audio show every week (and it could be more) and fold in segments for Mike Dell’s World (my personal stuff), Retrotech (interviews about old stuff), What’s up With That and the normal geeky tech news and views I’ve always tried to do here at Geek of the North. All from a Geeky perspective. I will also do a shorter form video (15-20min) episode a week with the audio coming out on the audio feed as well.

I will also be doing a LOT more blogging and youtube videos.

My business (Boonadello Marketing) will move here also and be re-branded to Geek of the North. Why not? Drinking my own cool-ade tastes good!

    I have android 2.1 on my droid now and most (if not all) Motorola Droid users should have the upgrade. HTML 5 is NOT on the droid yet for some reason. Not sure why, but it doesn’t yet. The iphones and ipads using the same browser (webkit) do HTML 5. Oh well, I’m sure they will get it sooner or later.
